Viking Star to be Christened in Norway

Viking Star, the newest ship for Viking Ocean Cruises®, sets sail from Istanbul April 11, 2015, on its way to be officially christened May 17, 2015, in Bergen, Norway.

The all-veranda Viking Star has a gross tonnage of 47,800 tons with 465 cabins to accommodate 930 passengers. It is engineered at a scale that allows direct access into most ports.

Light-filled with modern Scandinavian decor, the ship was designed by nautical architects and engineers, including the same interior design team responsible for the award-winning fleet of Viking Longships®. Viking Star is one of three ocean cruise ships on order; the remaining two ships, Viking Sea and Viking Sky, are currently under construction.

Viking Cruises offers destination-centric river and ocean cruising designed for experienced travelers with an interest in geography, culture and history.
