Mike Faust, Editor of Cruise Currents, will be sailing aboard Holland America Line’s ms Nieuw Amsterdam for the Season 1 Dancing with the Stars At Sea Finale. The sailing will embark in Fort Lauderdale on January 12th and will feature a daily cruise journal written by Mike.
The Itinerary
Embarking in Fort Lauderdale on January 12th, Holland America Line’s ms Nieuw Amsterdam will set sail on a 7 night western Caribbean voyage. The Nieuw Amsterdam will call in 4 ports, Half Moon Cay, Bahamas; Georgetown, Grand Cayman; Cozumel, Mexico; and Key West, Florida and will sail for two days.
The Ship
ms Nieuw Amsterdam entered the Holland America Line fleet in 2010 as the second and final ship in the Signature Class. Nieuw Amsterdam features 11 passenger decks, 4 specialty restaurants, 4 panoramic elevators, 2 outdoor pools, a complete teak wood promenade, a private cabana deck, and one of the highest rated crews in the cruise industry. In addition, the Nieuw Amsterdam is home to a number of lounges, bars, a Digital Workshop hosted by Microsft, the Greenhouse Spa & Fitness Center, the Culinary Arts Center, the Showroom At Sea, and the Explorer’s Lounge powered by the New York Time’s.
The Stateroom
The stateroom category is a VB Delude Verandah on the starboard side of the Nieuw Amsterdam. The stateroom features a sleeping area, sitting area, desk and vanity, and a private balcony. Unique features include Holland America Line’s Mariner Dream bed; 2 Holland America Line robes; soaps, lotions, shampoo and other bath amenities from Elemis Aromapure; fresh fruit upon request, and a plasma TV with DVD player. A large collection of complimentary movies are available upon request. The total square footage of the stateroom including the private balcony is roughly around 314.
Dancing with the Stars At Sea Finale
The January 12th sailing of the Nieuw Amsterdam is the host sailing for the Finale of Dancing with the Stars At Sea’s season 1. The sailing will host a number of celebrities and professional dancers from the television program, who will host various activities around the ship and judge the Finale. The Finale will take place on the final night of the sailing, where the 15 individual ship champions will compete for the Mirror Ball trophy. Mike will have the opportunity to interview a number of the stars and cover the Finale events while onboard.
