“The Love Boat” Sails Final Voyage

Earlier this week, the former Pacific Princess, widely known as “The Love Boat,” made her final voyage to a scrapyard in Turkey. Once properly prepared, the ship will be dismantled and sold for scrap and parts.

While the Pacific Princess is 42 years old, she left the Princess Cruises fleet in 2002 and sailed for various other cruise lines up until she sat idle at a dock in Genoa, Italy for the last couple of years.

The Pacific Princess was the star of the hit televisions series, The Love Boat, which followed the ship’s captivating crew and guests and their love adventures throughout the world. The television series aired from 1977 and 1986 and has been credited for a significant spike in cruise bookings. To this day, the Princess Cruises’ ships are still known as “The Love Boat,” thanks to one of the most successful shows in TV history.

Princess asked their Facebook fans to share their goodbyes to their famous ship, here are some of my favorites…
