So as spring and summer approach quickly, it begins the time period where new cruise ships will be introduced. There will be 17 new ships debuting this year and it will start with Viking River Cruises, Viking Freya on March 22nd. Honestly, I could care less about river ships, no offense to Viking, because I am waiting for the new mega cruse ships!
On March 31st Disney Fantasy will make her maiden voyage, and with the same features as Disney Dream, like the Aqua Duck, she is sure
to be a great success! Then we move onto Costa Concordia’s sister, Costa Fascinosa which will feature a Grand Prix simulator and some kind of waterfall. Hmm, will have to wait and see on that waterfall thing. I can’t see much initial success for Fascinosa with the whole Concordia tragedy. I really doubt Costa will put on a whole show to welcome their newest ship, as it may seem disrespectful to ignore the Concordia and go and have a good time.
Anyway, next we have Carnival Breeze with her maiden voyage in June, and I really can’t wait for her! This is the 1st Carnival ship that doesn’t have Joe Farcus as a primary architect, and even though I do enjoy some of his works on other Carnival ships, this is really a step above the rest of the Carnival fleet. By the artist renderings and video, I wouldn’t even guess this was Carnival! Plus, she will feature Carnival Magic’s Sky Course, Carnival Waterworks, and the first 5D movie theater on the 7 seas! If my reasons for loving the Breeze haven’t convinced you yet, then check out here virtual tour…
Finally, in October, Celebrity will debut the final ship in their Solstice class, Celebrity Reflection. Another great ship that features great restaurants, shopping, and the Lawn Club, a Celebrity signature.
2012 will be a great year for new ships, but really this is just the beginning. In 2013 and beyond the cruise lines will be debuting many new classes of ships including, Norwegian with Breakaway and Getaway, Princess with Royal Princess and another unnamed, P&O and Costa, but the most suspenseful of all….Royal Caribbean with Project Sunshine. If they don’t release AT LEAST a rendering of their ships by mid summer, I will never cruise with Royal again! Just kidding, but Royal, get moving.
Have a great weekend everyone!
