Seabourn Celebrates Construction Milestone For Seabourn Encore

Seabourn Encore, the latest ship for luxury line Seabourn, touched water for the first time today, marking an important milestone in the construction of the new ship.

Marnie Tihany, the director of business development for Tihany Design and wife of Seabourn Encore’s designer Adam D. Tihany, served as the ship’s “madrina,” officially launching the ship and cutting the cord to fill Seabourn Encore’s construction dock with water. Following the ceremony, the Seabourn Encore was floated to the outfitting dock, where she will undergo final construction prior to her delivery at the end of 2016.

“Seeing Seabourn Encore in the water is a very special moment and represents another important step toward the completion of our highly-anticipated ship,” said Richard Meadows, Seabourn President. “We continue to hear from our guests and travel industry partners about their excitement for this incredible ship, and they are just as eager as we are to welcome her to the Seabourn family later this year.”

Seabourn Encore will be the fourth ship of Seabourn’s fleet, carrying 600 guests in verandah suites. The new ship, inspired by Seabourn’s Odyssey Class, will feature an additional deck than her predecessors, and build upon Seabourn’s intimate service and understated, yet elegant interior designs and offerings.

The Seabourn Encore is currently under construction at Fincantieri’s Marghera shipyard and is expected to launch in December.
