Sailing Preview: Viking Star “Empires of the Mediterranean”

If there’s one thing I’m excited about this month, it’s my upcoming sailing on the hottest ship in the industry – Viking Ocean’s Viking Star. A brand new ship, a brand new cruise line, and an unbelievable itinerary – it’s going to be very special. Join me in just two short weeks for an inside look into the ship that’s making waves in the cruise industry.

Welcome Aboard

Viking Star, launched only a few months ago, is the newcomer and current star of the cruise industry. Viking Ocean Cruises, the brainchild and sister of the highly successful Viking River Cruises, introduced the new ship to the world in April, making a huge splash with her contemporary design, intimate spaces, and adventurous itineraries. The ship features a number of cool (yes, I’m a millennial, we still say cool) amenities including a true infinity pool at her stern, a Snow Grotto, and a number of tantalizing dining options. Now, I don’t want to give away too much about Viking Star yet, so don’t miss out on the Mike At Sea blog, which will launch on November 16th, featuring articles and features about the onboard experience and my itinerary.

Where Am I Going?

I’ll be sailing The Empires of the Mediterranean itinerary, embarking on November 17th. My sailing will take us from Constantinople  Istanbul to Venice, calling in ports throughout Turkey, Greece, Montenegro, Croatia, and ending in Italy. Plus, I’ll be taking part in some enriching and exciting excursions along the way, including, my personal favorite, a visit to the former home to the Virgin Mary on the Biblical History & Beautiful Vistas excursion in Ephesus.

I will begin my Mike At Sea coverage on November 16th in Istanbul. Follow along for my adventures through what was once Constantinople and the Park Hyatt.

Looking forward to joining you on Viking Star, Mike. As you say, she’s quite a ship. Exciting that you’re launching a new blog to mark the journey!
