Sailing Preview: Cruising For A Cause Aboard Ruby Princess

Mike Faust, Editor of Cruise Currents, will be sailing aboard Princess Cruise’s Ruby Princess for the 2nd annual Cruising For A Cause, benefiting the American Heart Association. The sailing will embark in Fort Lauderdale on February 10th and will feature a number of health experts, authors, and celebrities to discuss healthy living and heart care.

Embarking in Fort Lauderdale on February 10th, Princess Cruise’s Ruby Princess will set sail on a 5 night western Caribbean sailing. The Ruby Princess will visit two ports throughout the sailing, Georgetown, Grand Cayman; and Cozumel, Mexico in addition to spending two days at sea.

The Ship

Ruby Princess entered the Princess Cruises fleet in 2008 as the third and final ship in the Crown Class. Ruby Princess features 19 passenger decks, two specialty restaurants, 3 main dining rooms, 3 outdoor pools, a poolside movie theater, and an exclusive adult’s only Sanctuary. In addition, the Ruby Princess is home to a number of lounges, bars, a central piazza, the Lotus Spa,Club Fusion, Princess Theater, and the allure of the classic Love Boat.

The Stateroom

The stateroom category is a BD category balcony stateroom on the port side (Mike’s favorite side) of the Ruby Princess. The stateroom features two twin beds, a desk and vanity, and a large private balcony. Unique features include 100% Egyptian cotton linens, considerable closet space, 24 hour room service, and nightly pillow chocolates. The total square footage of the stateroom including the private balcony is roughly around 276.

Cruising For A Cause

The February 10th sailing of the Ruby Princess is the host sailing for the second annual Cruising For A Cause. The special sailing will host a number of health experts, authors, and celebrities, each who will host ship wide talks, workshops, seminars, and Q&A sessions. Guest speakers include Dr. Kathy Magliato, a cardiothoracic surgeons in the world with specialization in heart failure, heart transplantation, and artificial/mechanical heart technology; Chef Marc Anthony Bynum, a finalist on Food Network’s “Chopped;” and Bernie Kopell, the Love Boat’s very own Dr. Adam Bricker.

The second annual Cruising For A Cause sailing will also include a number of special heart and Valentine’s Day themed surprise activities and events.

Follow Along

Launching on this sailing of the Ruby Princess, Cruise Currents will be introducing a new video series, named “Experience.” “Experience” is a new video series that will allow Cruise Currents readers the opportunity to virtually experience various activities, events, and a tour of the ship through our professional mini videos. Readers should check into Cruise Currents each day for a new “Experience” episode, sharing one of the day’s event from the Ruby Princess.
