Royal Caribbean Ship Delayed By Propulsion Issue

March 25, 2014 5:15pm: Adventure of the Seas remains docked in San Juan undergoing repairs. Due to the delay, Royal Caribbean has been forced to cancel the ship’s call in Barbados. Guests staying in interior, oceanview, and balcony staterooms will receive $250 in on board credit. Guests staying in suites will receive $500 in on board credit. Each 3rd and 4th guest in each stateroom will receive $75 in on board credit. Royal Caribbean expects Adventure of the Seas will sail tonight, calling in each originally scheduled port with the exception of Barbados. Guests will receive additional compensation for the further delay.

Royal Caribbean’s Adventure of the Seas, which has been experiencing propulsion issues since Tuesday, has reportedly docked in San Juan, Puerto Rico hours after her scheduled arrival due to continued technical issues.

Originally reported by Royal Caribbean Fans, the Adventure of the Seas was reportedly without propulsion for approximately 12 hours on Saturday night. Due to this reported propulsion failure, the Adventure of the Sea’s arrival into San Juan was delayed until 11:00 am local time.

Due to this delay, Royal Caribbean has provided guests who were sailing aboard the ship a $450 future cruise credit and $150 airfare credit to arrange alternate transportation from San Juan.

Reports from local San Juan news networks state the Adventure of the Seas is currently undergoing repairs to her propulsion system and may be delayed from departing San Juan later tonight. The Adventure of the Seas is scheduled to sail a seven night southern Caribbean cruise, departing San Juan today at 8:30 pm local time. At the current moment, Royal Caribbean has not stated if the ship’s departure or embarkation will be delayed due to ongoing repairs.

Adventure of the Seas is currently scheduled to enter into an extended drydock on March 30th for routine repairs and upgrades. In addition, due to the recent mechanical issues involving the ship’s propulsion system, the Adventure of the Sea’s fixipod will undergo extended maintenance. The repairs to the fixipod will allow the Adventure of the Seas to resume sailing at cruising speed once she returns to service.
