Royal Caribbean Launches Limited 3G On Select Ships

Royal Caribbean has launched limited 3G service aboard both the Oasis and Allure of the Seas for AT&T customers. The new internet network comes in the second phase of Royal Caribbean’s expanding internet options in partnership with Wireless Maritime Services.

The new 3G network will provide guests with faster internet service on their phones when at sea. The new network boasts a 4 to 6 times faster connection, allowing guests to browse the internet faster without wasting their minutes. Prior to the 3G network, guests could only connect to the internet using the ship’s satellite based WiFi, which is notoriously slow at times.

At this time, it is not known if Royal Caribbean is planning to expand the 3G coverage to other cell providers or other ships within their fleet.
