Royal Caribbean is taking entertainment to a whole new level aboard their soon to be newest ship, Quantum of the Seas. The wide array of innovative entertainment features were announced yesterday during a live Google Hangout, hosted by the ship’s godmother, Kristin Chenoweth, and Royal Caribbean’s Vice President of Entertainment, Nick Weir.
Many of the new and innovative entertainment features will be hosted throughout Quantum’s main three entertainment venues, Two70°, Music Hall, and The Royal Theater.
Two70°, which is the first theater of it’s kind at sea, features Vistarama, a set of expansive floor-to-ceiling windows that also function as projector screens, allowing the entire aft window space of the venue to transform into a backdrop for one of the many shows hosted in the innovative space. In addition, Two70° also features six Roboscreens, which can be moved and positioned to create a digital set.
Guests sailing aboard Quantum of the Seas will have the opportunity to catch two shows in the new Two70°: Starwater, a new and original Royal Caribbean production, is a highly visual, theatrical spectacle of video mapping, special effects and human artistry that combine to create an awe-inspiring experience designed to appeal to universal human emotions. Virtual Concert will feature premier musicians, groups and bands that is masterfully captured and projected across Vistarama and all six Roboscreens to transport guests to a virtual experience as impressive as the real thing
Music Hall, will serve as the heart and beat of Quantum’s music scene. The new space will feature a number of bands, musicians, DJs, and theme night parties throughout the day and night.
The Royal Theater, the ship’s main production theater, will continue to offer guests a number of production shows in addition to one of many popular Broadway shows. New to the stage, Sonic Odyssey, will feature a variety of unique instruments, including a signature Earth Harp, a unique Drum Wall consisting of 136 drums, a Vocal Percussion Jacket, Violin Dress and more. This new theatrical production weaves together a nine-piece live orchestra with a cast of singers, dancers, aerialists and gymnasts. Announced earlier this year, Quantum of the Seas will host Mamma Mia!, one of the most popular Broadway shows to date.
A brief overview of the new spaces and entertainment options aboard Quantum of the Seas can be viewed in the video above.
Quantum of the Seas is set to debut in November, where she will offer a variety of Caribbean and Bahamas sailings from Bayonne, New Jersey until June 2015, when she will reposition to her new homeport of Shanghai, China.
