Next December, Princess Cruises will reach its 50th anniversary, five decades after the inaugural sailing aboard the Patricia Princess set sail to Mexico. To celebrate the momentous occasion, Princess Cruises has planned an exclusive, one-time anniversary sailing to Mexico.
The anniversary sailing, which will set sail on December 3, 2015, will be celebrated aboard the Pacific Princess, the namesake of The Love Boat’s Pacific Princess. The 14 night sailing aboard the Pacific Princess will retrace the original itinerary followed in 1965 with the addition of a few new ports. Ports of call on the Mexican sailing will include well known ports of call such as Puerto Vallarta, MazatlĂĄn, Manzanillo, La Paz, and Loreto.
The sailing will feature a number of commemorative activities, events, and special guests with memorable ties to Princess Cruises.
âThis nostalgic cruise to Mexico will be the perfect finale to whatâs sure to be a special 50th anniversary year for Princess,â said Jan Swartz, Princess Cruises president. âFor this significant milestone we couldnât resist recreating, with some new touches, the very first cruise our company operated. And because the name Pacific Princess is so integral to our companyâs history, we wanted to offer the cruise aboard the current ship with this iconic name.â
The special sailing will open for booking on May 13, 2014. Cruises fares for the anniversary sailing begin at $1,699 per person, double occupancy.

The first Princess ship was the chartered Canadian Pacific vessel Princess Patricia (not Patricia Princess). By this time the ship was being used by the CPR only as an Alaska cruise ship during the short summer season. Princess Patricia was a granddaughter of Queen Victoria. Her father, Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught, was Governor General of Canada
