Recently, Port Canaveral announced that Royal Caribbean is planning to base a third cruise ship out of Port Canaveral. The speculated third ship would join Royal Caribbean’s Freedom of the Seas and Enchantment of the Seas in sailings from the Space Coast.
Port Canaveral’s interim Chief Executive Officer John Walsh commented saying, “An announcement from Royal Caribbean is expected in about two weeks that the cruise line will have another ship at Port Canaveral, joining the Enchantment of the Seas and Freedom of the Seas for part of the year.”
There is speculation that the newly based ship could be one of Royal Caribbean’s new builds scheduled for delivery in the next few years. Some say it could be the Anthem of the Seas or even potentially the new sister of Oasis and Allure of the Seas. Regardless of the ship based, Port Canaveral has announced that they intend to build a new cruise terminal that would allow the port to accommodate ships of Oasis’ size. A larger, new terminal for Royal Caribbean could be a major selling point for Royal Caribbean to bring on of their new ships to Port Canaveral.
