Port Canaveral Begins Construction On New Terminal

Today, Port Canaveral began construction on a new, multi million dollar cruise terminal located on the south side of the port.

The new terminal, named Terminal 1, will be the port’s first terminal to be located on the south side of Port Canaveral and will allow guests and crew to walk to nearby dining and entertainment options. The new terminal will cost the port roughly $50.5 million and is expected to be opened in November 2014.

The 187,500 square foot terminal will be able to handle some of the world’s largest cruise ships, a few of which are already based at Port Canaveral throughout the year.

The contract to build the new terminal was awarded to local construction firm, Ivey’s Construction.
