It is being reported that P&O’s Ventura has lost power to its starboard propeller and is currently sailing at a reduced speed. The Ventura is currently sailing a transatlantic cruise which is expected to arrive in Southampton, it’s debarkation port, later this week. In order to arrive in Southampton on time, the Ventura will be forced to skip its call in Maderia on Tuesday.
P&O has publicly commented on the situation: “We are currently working with the manufacturers and shore support to identify and rectify an issue with the starboard propulsion motor on Ventura. We can assure everyone that power and services on the ship are unaffected.”
If any new information arises, I will update this article as needed. -Mike

Also keep in mind Ventura is going into a scheduled drydocking/refurbishment later this week on the 22nd….so, if a problem like this had to arise, this was an opportune time. Apparently, she is due to get 18 new single cabins, redone dining and bar venues, and other normal maintenance and upgrading. She is due back in service on April 6th….better than ever!
Sounds like she will be ready to please new guests as soon as she returns to service!
We just disembarked Ventura this morning and despite the mechanical problems, it didn’t ruin the trip in the slightest! We actually were really pleased to visit Ponta Delada for the first time instead of revisiting Madeira.
