P&O Announces Name For New Ship

P&O Cruises has announced that their soon to be newest ship will be named Britannia.

The new Britannia will launch in spring of 2015 and will become P&O’s largest ship. The Britannia will carry 3,600 passengers and has a GRT of 141,000.

Carnival UK’s chief executive, David Dingle, commented on the new ship’s naming, “Britannia is a most fitting name for the newest addition to P&O Cruises which, with its long and famous heritage, remains Britain’s favorite cruise line. Britannia will capture both the contemporary spirit of P&O Cruises and the spirit of Britain today.”

The new ship will be constructed by Fincantieri and is expected to introduce many new green technologies as well as feature the largest amount of single cabins in the industry.
