Passengers Report Technical Issues Aboard Disney Magic

(2:50pm) According to posters on a Disney Cruise Line forum, the Disney Magic is currently experiencing various technical issues ranging from leaking pipes to 2 flooded staterooms.

One poster, amscene, posted, “…we have to call the guest services every time we want to flush our toilet. And have seen 3-4 leaks from pipes in the ceiling, 2 flooded staterooms. It’s clear it’s gonna take some time to work the bugs out. Still contractors onboard working.” Another poster, Gatrcruzer, also confirmed plumbing issues onboard.

The Disney Magic is diverting to Port Miami and has just shown up on the PortMiami webcam.

Cruise Currents has reached out to Disney Cruise Line for a full explanation of the reason behind the diversion.

I just said that to..they always put Carnival down but other cruise lines slip away from the bad press….Ill still take Carnival anyday ..at least they make it affordable to cruise and I never had a complaint with any of their ships………………..

Here’s the nice little Not-So-Magical letter I got from my Not-So-Magical cruise 10/27, Would you be happy with this response? I’d think they could at least send me a gift card or something. Geez.

Dear Rita:

Thank you for your email.

First, I was so very sorry to learn of any disappointments with some final touches being done to the Disney Magic. As I’m sure you know the Disney Magic just came out of the most extensive dry dock in our company’s history. Our crew and a number of independent contractors have
been working tirelessly to complete all of the enhancements onboard and I truly regret if their presence diminished your enjoyment. I also regret any disappointment the closure of the Rainforest and the challenge you experience getting a refund.
From your past experience I’m sure you understand this experience was anexception to the
excellent service we provide, and we hope you allow us another opportunity to demonstrate this to you.

Sincerely,

It seems no cruise line is immune to difficulties, its how they handle the situations, both
on board and in the press. Carnival had a run of bad luck and tried to minimize it , but the
public outcry of ‘foul!’ with the photos and videos to back it up. Carnival tried to wiggle out of responsibility and it cost them in many cases the public trust..all documented. RCCL’s recent fire was handled professionally, they stepped up to the plate and handled it well. It looks like Disney
is doing the right thing. In response to Marie Woods’ statement.. I too enjoy Carnival (but a recent trip on the Victory nearly changed my mind ) and am nearing Diamond status as well as like tiers with RCCL, Cunard and NCL. Cruising is an affordable way to vacation, and the cruise lines have to show us they want our business and respect our intelligence.
