Passenger Jumps From Carnival Conquest, Records Fall

Approximately two weeks ago, a video surfaced on YouTube showing a man jumping from the promenade deck of Carnival’s Carnival Conquest as the ship slowly sailed alongside Grand Turk.

The video, which can be viewed above, shows an unnamed passenger standing on the exterior promenade aboard the Carnival Conquest. The video was reportedly taken as the Carnival Conquest sailed past the beaches of Grand Turk, preparing to dock. The video then shows the unnamed passenger climbing over the deck’s railing and jumping off the exterior of the ship. Within seconds, the passenger is submerged into the water and is shown swimming away from the ship.

The passenger’s jump is estimated to have been approximately 50-60 feet, spanning between four or five decks of the ship.

The passenger was reportedly spotted jumping from the ship by locals on the island as well as other passengers aboard the Carnival Conquest. The passenger was quickly reported to local police and was detained upon landing at the nearby Grand Turk Cruise Center. The guest was then transferred to the Carnival Conquest’s security team, who detained him, gathered his luggage, and disembarked him from the ship.

This is the first known incident of a passenger jumping off of a cruise ship, where the passenger recording themselves during the jump.

At the current time, it is not known if the passenger was under the influence of either alcohol or drugs when he jumped from the Carnival Conquest.

Correction: The ship was originally stated to be the Carnival Glory. Upon further review, it was apparent we misidentified the ship. The correction to Carnival Conquest has been made.

The ship was at anchor, so not going anywhere…. Still a very stupid thing to do.

What a dope! I’ve been ther 3 times and it is a good distance from the ship to the beach. What a moron!

Now why the hell would you headline “Records Fall” when this GIGANTIC A-HOLE obviously JUMPED from the ship? What the hell is wrong with you media people?

Did you verify this with Carnival? Some are questioning the validity of this video.

Stupidity. Pure stupidity. He was obviously trying to attract media attention, but jumping off a cruise ship is one of the stupidest things you can do.
