Norwegian Announces Name Of Next Two Ships

Norwegian Cruise Line has announced that their soon to debut Breakaway Plus ships will be named Norwegian Bliss and Norwegian Escape.  Guests and fans of Norwegian were encouraged to vote for their favorite names during an online contest held on Norwegian’s Facebook page. Escape and Bliss received the largest number of votes out of 5 pre-selected names.

“The response to our `Norwegians Name Their Ships` contest was overwhelming,” said Kevin Sheehan, Norwegian’s chief executive officer. “It reaffirms that we have a very engaged and passionate community of Norwegians and we are thrilled with the names they have selected for our two new Breakaway Plus Class Ships. Norwegian Escape and Norwegian Bliss are two names that truly characterize our brand, Freestyle Cruising®, and the experience guests will have on board these fantastic new vessels.”

The new Norwegian Bliss and Escape are set to debut in 2015 and 2016 respectively. The two new ships will be the largest in the Norwegian fleet, each with a GRT of 163,000 and carrying 4,200 guests.

Unfortunately , my experience cruising with Norwegian has not been good, probably because I was on older ships. I found the buffet area small, confined and configured very poorly. The food selection was limited and unappetizing. Unless these issues have been resolved on the newer ships, I doubt I will be cruising with Norwegian in the future.
