Nieuw Amsterdam Receives 100% On USPH Inspection

Holland America Line’s Nieuw Amsterdam received a 100% score on its health inspection at Port Everglades yesterday. The Nieuw Amsterdam arrived from Europe yesterday and was randomly selected to undergo a health inspection by the USPH upon arrival at Port Everglades.

A perfectĀ scoreĀ can only be achieved by earning perfect marks on a comprehensive safety and sanitationĀ checklist. TheĀ checklistĀ is comprised of detailed inspections of food handling, preparation, storage procedures, and overall galley cleanliness. In addition, the shipā€™s potable water supplies, which is used in the spa and pools, is also evaluated.

These inspections are performed randomly, without any prior warning, twice a year. The inspections are conducted on every cruise ship that is sailing an international itinerary with a call in a US port.

The Nieuw Amsterdam recently received a 98% score in December of 2012. She most recently received a 100% score during its March 2012 inspection.
