Navigator of the Seas To San Juan
Royal Caribbean’s Navigator of the Seas will reportedly replace the Jewel of the Seas in San Juan beginning in 2015, according to reports from The Royal Caribbean Blog and Caribbean Business. The swap is scheduled to occur in May 2015, increasing Royal Caribbean’s weekly capacity in San Juan by an additional 613 guests. The Navigator of the Seas recently completed a major dry dock, adding new virtual balcony staterooms, new dining venues, and a Flowrider.
Celebrity Partners with Top Chef
Celebrity Cruises announced a new partnership with television’s Top Chef, launching Celebrity’s own Top Chef At Sea. The partnership will bring Top Chef contestants to four theme cruises this year, offering guests the chance to participate in complimentary cooking demonstrations, culinary challenges, and private dining and cooking experiences. In addition, select Celebrity sailings will offer Top Chef inspired menus throughout the sailing. The new partnership was launched today, following last year’s successful Top Chef: The Cruise sailing.
Costa Launches Onboard Phone & Text App
Costa Cruise’s has launched a new app for their guests, allowing guests onboard to text and call fellow guests at no additional charge. Known as MyCosta Mobile, guests can download the app prior to sailing and register once onboard. In addition to contacting other guests, Costa guests can contact one of the ship’s restaurants, spa desk, shore excursion office and more.
Royal Caribbean Pledges Larger Ship For Galveston
Royal Caribbean and the Port of Galveston signed an agreement earlier this week, binding Royal Caribbean to upgrade Terminal 2 by the spring of 2015. The terminal upgrades will allow for the accommodation of a larger ship than the currently based Navigator of the Seas. A larger ship is not only a possibility for the port, it’s a guarantee in the new agreement. Circulating reports suggest Royal Caribbean is poised to announce Independence of the Seas as Galveston’s newest ship.
