Amenities & Activities
The MSC Poesia provides a vast amount of activities to keep you occupied during both days at sea and days in port. On the upper decks, the Poesia sports a basketball court, tennis court, shuffleboard court, and even 9 holes of mini golf. For the younger members of your family, the Poesia provides great facilities for kids and teens. The kids’s club provides younger kids with fun crafts, parties, and even an outdoor play area. For teens, they have access to a Wii, the latest video games, as well as dance parties with a DJ! The Poesia also houses one of the newest spa’s and fitness center at sea. Enter the MSC Aurea Spa, a 12,000 square foot spa that features massage rooms, whirlpools, steam rooms, saunas, and professional spa therapists that are ready to help you relive your stress. The Aurea Spa also houses a decent sized gym featuring some of the newest gym equipment – all with a panoramic view of the ship’s bow and the ocean ahead. The Poesia also features 3 pools, 4 whirlpools, and an outdoor movie screen with an ideal position for poolside movies.
Dining Options
While sailing onboard the Poesia, you will never run short of dining options. The Poesia features two, traditional dining rooms, Il Palladio and Le Fontane, as well as an à la carte restaurant, L’Obelisco, and a buffet, Villa Pompeiano Cafeteria. The ship also features a sit down sushi reaturant, Kaito Sushi Bar. At Kaito, sushi is prepared by artisan Sushi chefs in the tradiitonal ways of the Japanese. Kaito features a vary large menu compared to other cruise ships, even serving beyond typical sushi dishes. On a smaller, but still delicious scale, the Poesia features an industry first – a Nutella stand. Yep, you hear me correctly, a stand where you can purchase Nutella based food items. The Poesia also features a gelateria, serving a wide array of delicious gellato flavors. If you are looking for a drink onbaord the Poesia, then it shouldn’t be very hard to find one of the ship’s 16 bars. The Poesia has scattered bars throughout the ship on most public decks. From the Coral Bay Pool Bar to the ships cigar bar, The Hitchcok Lounge, you shouldn’t have a problem finding a place to drink.
Entertainment
The Poesia houses most of its main entertainment in the ship’s show lounge, Taetro Carlo Felice. Most nights will feature a production show in the main lounge, while dancing, karaoke, and other shows take place in one of the Poesia’s seven other lounges located throughout the ship. You can even try your luck in the Poesia’s very own casino, Casino Royal. If you are looking to dance the night away, then you are in luck – you can do just that in the Poesia’s own nightclub, S32 Disco. Basically, if you are a night owl – you will fit in perfectly with this ship.
Food Quality
As mentioned before, the Poesia features a wide array of dining options, but none of that matters unless you have good food to serve to the guests, Well, MSC is doing just that. In all honesty, MSC may have served me the best meal I have ever had onboard a cruise ship. From the speciality pizza, to the crisp and fresh house salad, and even freshly baked pretzel bread – this was one fine meal. I actually ended up researching the cooking methods of MSC, and according to the Berlitz Guide to Cruising, MSC uses the Itlaian slow cook method with many of their ingredients being imported from Italy and other nations of Europe. Berlitz even ranks MSC as #3 out of the 11 major cruise lines for overall food quality and presentation! MSC truly knows how to make a fine, fresh, and delicious meal.
Layout & Appearance
The layout of the MSC Poesia can be a bit confusing for cruisers who haven’t cruised on a Musica class ship, but like all cruise ships – we learn our way around. The appearance of the Poesia was very satisfying to my taste I am a “minimalist” kind of guy, and I really enjoyed the simple, but colorful design of the ship. Each public room has a simple, elegant touch, but never evokes the sense of gaudy or anything over the top. The ship’s use of relaxing colors fits in perfectly with her winter itineraries in the Caribbean.
Service & Crew
Like every cruise ship I have had the chance to sail on, the MSC Poesia’s crew is top notch. Every crew member was always smiling, greeting you as you walked around the ship, and even asking to see if you need anything Although, MSC appears to be going above and beyond by providing guests with the option of having a steward carry their luggage all the way to their room. Now this is service.
Staterooms
The staterooms onboard the MSC Poesia are very nicely decorated with a good amount of space to guarantee you a relaxing and enjoyable cruise with great accommodations. [divider]

I want to give a huge thank you to Gail and Saundra at MSC for arranging this tour, and especially Saundra for taking the time out of her busy day to show me around this amazing ship!
