Earlier today, the MSC Divinawas delivered to MSC Cruises at STX Shipyards, Saint-Nazaire, France yard.
The MSC Divina is now MSC Cruises newest and largest ship with a total tonnage of 139,400, a length of 1,092 feet, and the ability to accommodate 3,959 passengers . The flags of STX Shipyards were lowered today, while MSC Cruises raised their house flag along with the proper registry flags. The Divina was then handed over to Captain Giuliano Bossi. This is the first step in christening the new ship which will take place in Marseille on May 26th.
The delivery of the ship marks that the shipyard has completed all of its construction of the ship, and that she is now ready to sail for the MSC fleet. The MSC will now set sail on her “pre – inaugural” cruise where she will call in Libson, Cadiz, Gibraltar, and Valencia.
Once she is is Marseille on May 26th, she will be christened by her godmother, Sophia Loren. You can watch the christening, live, next Saturday (the 26th) HERE.
The MSC Divina will sail a variety of Mediterranean cruises throughout this year, and will sail Caribbean cruises during the winter of 2013 out of the Port of Miami.
