Mid Week Cruise News

Ahoy everyone! Sorry, I have been out lately I have been setting up a new blog schedule which you can find here, plus I was out of town this past weekend, so I didn’t get a chance to blog or tweet much, but anyways I’m back! I wanted to try out this new blog segment called, Mid Week Cruise News which will basically give you a quick recap of the top cruise stories from the past week, plus we will share some other cool things too! Let’s get started…

Cruise Like A Norwegian on the Breakaway & Star

This past week NCL has had a couple of news stories, including the releasing of their 2013 itineraries for the Norwegian Breakaway. The Norwegian Breakaway will sail 7 night cruises to Bermuda sailing from New York City. The cruise will include 3 days at sea and 3 days in King’s Wharf Bermuda. One of the pricing options brought back with Breakaway is the ocean view cabin, which disappeared on the Norwegian Epic, after NCL decided to put ocean view cabins back on the Breakaway and Getaway. NCL also started sailing this week out of Tampa, Florida with their Norwegian Star. The Norwegian Star sails a 7 night western Caribbean itinerary which includes Costa Maya, Cozumel, Roatan, and Belize City. The Star joins the Carnival Paradise, Carnival Legend, and Royal Caribbeans’ Jewel of the Seas. The Norwegian Star will continue to sail out of Tampa until April 8, 2012. I do kind of wish Norwegian would jump back on the eastern routes with some of their ships during the summer, it seems they only make an appearance here during the winter months. I does seem like that is the strategy of most cruise lines, except for Carnival who has like every ship in the Caribbean during the summer.

Where is Liberty?

Currently the Carnival Liberty is in Freeport, Bahamas where she is being gutted and enhanced with the new features of Fun Ship 2.0. She will be in dry dock for 2 weeks, and then will resume sailing here current itineraries. For more information and updates please click  here. Some of her new features will include: a brand new HD LED poolside TV screen, Blue Iguana Cantina, Blue Iguana Tequila bar, Alchemy Bar, Guy’s Burger Joint, the EA Sports Bar, game shows by Hasbro, a newly designed Lido Deck, new club entertainment, and an update to Punchliner Comedy Club by George Lopez, and Red Frog Rum Bar, featuring Carnival’s own branded beer, Thirsty Frog Red. All of these features will be added to most of Carnivals’ ships in the next 5 years.

Cat’s on the High Seas

This past week’s passengers on Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas were in for a special treat when they received a special screening of the new movie Puss In Boots. Actor Antonio Banderas, who voices Puss, and actress Salma Hayek, who voices Kitty Softpaws, were on board the ship for the premier. I won’t go into detail over the movie, because I don’t want to be the one to spoil the movie for you. 🙂

Well, that was pretty much it for this past week in cruise news, I do want to leave you with a funny commercial I found today thanks to Port Everglades Webcam and sunny.org! I hope you all have a great Wednesday!
