Holland America Line Debuts New Beverage Package

Taking a cue from other major cruise lines, Holland America has introduced their very own all inclusive beverage package.

The new Signature Beverage Package will allows guests to order 15 drinks a day for a price of $44.95 per person per day. The beverage package allows guests to choose from a variety of wine, beer, spirits, both non-alcoholic and alcoholic cocktails, sodas and coffee. The package can be used at any bar aboard your ship and is active for the entire cruise.

The package must be bought on the first or second day of the cruise and does not include drinks from the mini bar or Holland’s private island, Half Moon Cay. If one guest in a stateroom purchases the drink package, all other guests over the age of 21 must also purchase the drink package.

I think it is a ripoff that 2 people sharing a cabin have to both buy the package. Understand if the drinks number was unlimited, but does it matter if 2 less-than-heavy drinkers share the 15 drinks?

I understand why that both (or all) pax in the cabin 21 or over have to buy the package. But, its not really fair in some instances..because the other person may not drink. If I buy the soda package, the rest of the cabin occupants dont have to.
