Crystal Ship Hit By Rogue Wave

The Crystal Serenity, one of Crystal’s luxury cruise ships, was struck by a rogue wave earlier this weekend while sailing between Spain and Monte Carlo.

The incident reportedly took place in the early hours of Saturday, April 26th. Crystal Cruises reports the rogue wave struck the ship’s main dining room, the Crystal Dining Room. The line states repairs have been made to the main dining room and was reopened for dinner service the same evening.

No injuries were reported by either crew or passengers.

A full statement from Crystal’s Facebook page reads: “What a difference a day makes! In the wee hours, a likely rogue wave hit Crystal Serenity en route to Monte Carlo. Fortunately, nobody was hurt. Repairs have begun and the Crystal Dining Room is expected to be open for dinner. Many thanks to our wonderful crew for handling everything so smoothly and quickly.”

The Crystal Serenity is currently sailing on a 13 night Mediterranean sailing. No impact to the ship’s itinerary is expected.
