Costa Expected To Order 2nd “Super Costa” Ship

Earlier this week, Costa Cruises hinted at a possible order for a second “Super Costa” ship along with the originally planed ship which would launch a new class of ships for Costa Cruises.

This ship would be the second ship in the new “Super Costa” class, if she is ordered. She will weigh around 132,500 tons and carry just a little under 5,000 passengers. No actual details of the ship have been released yet, but I did come across a possible rendering of the ship, but no one has confirmed where the actual rendering came from…

In reality, it looks like Costa won’t make this announcement until this fall. The new CEO of Costa Cruises Pier Luigi Foschi recently commented on the rumors saying,

“we want to continue to grow and by the autumn we will be able to make a very important announcement for the Italian shipbuilding industry.”

Earlier last year, Costa Cruises announced the ordering of a “Super Costa” ship that would weigh 132,500 tons and carry almost 5,000 passengers. It is basically a sister ship to Carnival Cruises’ Dream class ships. The originally ordered ship is expected to be in service by mid to late 2014. This ship will be the first in this new class.

Stay tuned to MCB for the latest news on this exciting and new class of ships for Costa Cruises!
