According to reports as well as a statement from Celebrity Cruises, the Celebrity Millennium is currently experiencing an electrical issue that is affecting the ship’s propulsion.
Celebrity Cruises has confirmed that engineers onboard are currently working to resolve the problem. Unfortunately the reduction in speed will alter force the ship to alter its itinerary.
Here is the latest statement from Celebrity regarding the revised itinerary:
“The Celebrity Millennium will bypass Hanoi (Halong Bay), on Tuesday, April 9, as originally scheduled. Instead the ship will spend Tuesday and Wednesday at sea as they sail to Hong Kong, China. The ship will arrive in Hong Kong on Thursday, April 11, as originally scheduled. The cruise is not being shortened or returning to Hong Kong earlier.
As a gesture of goodwill, and to thank guests for their understanding, Celebrity Cruises will provide each guest with an onboard credit. This credit will be applied directly to their onboard account and may be used for any onboard purchase or service. Any unused portion will be refunded to guests at the end of the cruise.”
At this time there is no word on whether future sailings will be affected or not.
