Earlier this month, Cruise Currents reported on an alleged statement from Croisieres De France, a subsidiary of Royal Caribbean International, stating they would acquire Celebrity’s Celebrity Century in 2015. Cruise Currents later reached out to Celebrity Cruises and was informed that Celebrity currently had no plans to transfer the Celebrity Century at the time. The full statement from Celebrity Cruises read, “As of now, no decision has been made. If that should change, we will make an announcement at the appropriate time.”
Earlier this week, another cruise information website updated an earlier article on the same situation. The website stated, “The transfer of Celebrity Century to Croisieres De France, originally denied after the initial publication of this piece, has now been confirmed. She will replace the smaller, less balcony laden Zenith from April of 2015.”
Upon inquiry of the statement, a Celebrity Cruises spokesperson spoke with Cruise Currents and once again denied the pending sale or transfer of the Celebrity Century to Croisieres De France. In addition, Croisieres De France has made no announcement or confirmation of the transfer or sale of Celebrity Century.
At this time, it has been confirmed by Celebrity Century will continue to sail with Celebrity and currently has no plans of leaving the fleet.
The Celebrity Century is currently Celebrity’s oldest ship, debuting with Celebrity in 1995.
