Celebrity Constellation Delayed By Engine Issue

The Celebrity Constellation has been delayed from departing Key West today, due to an issue with one of the ship’s engines.

Due to the engine issue and the maintenance required to rectify the situation, the ship has been forced to postpone it’s departure from Key West until 1o pm today. This delay in departure has also forced the ship to alter its planned itinerary. The Celebrity Constellation will not call in Cozumel, Mexico as planned on Tuesday and will instead proceed to Nassau, Bahamas, where she will call on Wednesday from 8:00 am until 6:00 pm.

Celebrity Cruises has provided Cruise Currents with an official statement on the situation:

“Yesterday, December 15, Celebrity Constellation became aware of a technical issue with one of its gas turbine engines.  Celebrity Cruises made arrangements to replace the necessary component.  Regrettably, the installation work has required more time than originally anticipated.

Because of this delay, and the time and speed needed, Celebrity Constellation will be unable to make its scheduled port call to Cozumel, Mexico on Tuesday, December 17.  Instead, it will call into Nassau, Bahamas on Wednesday, December 18, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The ship will depart Key West at 10:00 p.m. this evening.”

The Celebrity Constellation is scheduled to depart at her revised time of 10:00 pm from Key West tonight.
