Celebrity Cruises has been forced to cancel four additional sailings aboard the Celebrity Millennium in order to make necessary repairs to the ship’s propulsion system.
Celebrity has cancelled the Millennium’s August 23rd, 30th, September 6th, and 13th sailings. All guests who were booked on one of the cancelled sailings will receive a full refund and a future cruise credit.
In a statement, Celebrity expressed their disappointment in the need to cancel additional sailings: “We are deeply sorry for this unexpected and disappointing development in our guests’ upcoming vacation.”
The cancelled sailings will bring the Celebrity Millennium’s summer season in Alaska to an end. Once the necessary repairs are made, the Celebrity Millennium will resume service from San Diego on September 22nd, where she will sail through the Panama Canal on a sailing to Fort Lauderdale.
The Celebrity Millennium has suffered mechanical issues for the past three weeks, resulting in altered itineraries and cancelled sailings. On August 9th, the Celebrity Millennium suffered propulsion problems, which delayed the ship’s arrival into Seward, Alaska. Due to repairs, the ship departed Seward four days late, sailing a revised itinerary to Vancouver with no ports of call. Earlier this week, the Celebrity Millennium was forced to remain in Ketchikan after a propulsion problem was discovered. The sailing was ultimately cancelled after engineers stated that they would need additional time to address the problem with the propulsion system.

I don’t have any cruises booked that have been affected; but I do respect Celebrity’s decision as I would rather have a cruise canceled for known repairs needed than to be stranded at sea or have a vacation ruined.
I have sailed with Celebrity on two different vessels (Century & Millennium) and they would be my pick above all others! Keep up that great jobs that you do!
I agree, Celebrity is being very proactive and handling the difficult situation very well! Kudos to them!
