Earlier this weekend, the Carnival Sunshine departed from the Fincantieri dry dock facility in Trieste, Italy and arrived in Venice, Italy to begin her summer Mediterranean sailings.
The Carnival Sunshine welcomed aboard her first guests on Sunday and is currently sailing on a 12 night inaugural Mediterranean cruise. Cruisers aboard the Carnival Sunshine this week will enjoy stunning Mediterranean ports including Dubrovnik, Rome, Monte Carlo, and Barcelona among others. Today she is sailing a day at sea en-route to her first port of call, Dubrovnik. This inaugural cruise will end in Barcelona on May 17th, where she will then begin sailing various 9 and 12 night Mediterranean itineraries from the Catalonian city.
The Carnival Sunshine’s transformation was arguably the most innovative and complex cruise ship renovation in the history of the industry. Compared to when she entered dry dock back in March as the Carnival Destiny, she no longer compares. The Carnival Sunshine has been given a second life and will now be able to offer Carnival guests a truly enjoyable cruise with many of the new Fun Ship 4.0 features. The Carnival Sunshine now offers guests Guy’s Burger Joint, the Blue Iguana Cantina, Red Frog Pub, Punchliner’s Comedy Club, and many more Fun Ship 2.0 features. Additionally, Carnival Sunshine also features the new Sports Square, Carnival Waterworks, and a completely redesigned Serenity adult retreat.
The construction of the Carnival Breeze and the Destiny’s transformation into the Sunshine represent the evolution of the Carnival product. With new Fun Ship 2.0 features and a new design team, Carnival is looking into the future of their cruise line and the cruise industry as a whole.
