Carnival Splendor’s January 13th Departure Delayed Due To Propulsion Repairs

As I reported earlier this week, the Carnival Splendor recently suffered damage to its propulsion system after sailing through a group of underwater fishing nets. The damage incurred prompted for the need to make repairs in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. According to Carnival these repairs have taken longer than expected and have delayed the arrival of the Carnival Splendor in Long Beach.

carnival logoA statement from Carnival reads, “The Carnival Splendor will be delayed arriving into Los Angeles due to necessary repairs on the seals of the ship’s propulsion shafts as a result of damage caused by underwater fishing nets.  All other shipboard systems and hotel services continue to function as normal.

Unfortunately, the repairs took longer than expected and the ship remained in Puerto Vallarta until early Friday evening. Therefore, the ship’s arrival into Long Beach will be delayed until Monday morning. Our scheduled 6-day cruise will be shortened to a 5-day cruise, with two full day visits to Cabo San Lucas (eliminating the call to Puerto Vallarta).

Check-in for your cruise is now scheduled for Monday January 14, 2013, from 12:30PM to 3:30PM, and sailing is set for 4:30PM.”

Revised Itinerary

Day Port Arrive Depart
11/14 Long Beach 4:30pm
11/15 At Sea
11/16 Cabo San Lucas 9:30am 6:00pm
11/17 Cabo San Lucas 8:00am 2:00pm
11/18 At Sea
11/19 Long Beach 9:00am
