Carnival Revamps Children’s Program, Renamed Camp Ocean To Launch This May

Carnival Cruise Line’s, whose current children’s program, Camp Carnival, has consistently ranked as one of the top programs at sea for children, will soon undergo a major revamp and renaming.

The newly named Camp Ocean will debut aboard the Carnival Freedom this May as a new, marine themed child only club, offering an array of new programs, activities, and spaces. The new children’s program will be offered for Carnival’s younger guests, aged between 2 and 11. Activities and spaces will be divided between three age groups aboard: children ages 2-5 will be dubbed “Penguins,” with those ages 6-8 called “Sting Rays” while 9-11 year olds will be “Sharks.”

Each age group in Camp Ocean will have exclusive access to their very own space tailored towards their age group and interests. Each space will offer a combined number of approximately 200 activities for children onboard, including educational games such as Sea Creature Discovery, Marine Life Trivia, Under the Sea Mad Libs and Ocean Artifacts Memory Tray to creative arts opportunities such as Design Your Own Aquarium, Make Your Own Sailboat, Sea Salt Art, and Create a Penguin from Oreos.

In addition, the new children’s program will debut a new onboard “Badge Challenge,” which will provide younger cruisers the opportunity to earn and collect badges as souvenirs from their time aboard. The children of Camp Ocean can earn badges by completing tasks and challenges aboard their ship, including trying new food, riding the waterslide, or making an aquatic themed towel animal.

“While our current children’s program consistently gets very high marks, we’ve challenged ourselves to exceed expectations with a truly dynamic and diverse program for our youngest guests,” said Mark Tamis, Carnival’s senior vice president of guest operations. “With our new highly tailored age groupings and themed activities connected to the oceans and their fascinating underwater habitats, we’re excited to invite kids to Camp Ocean to have an extra special and memorable Carnival vacation experience.”

The new Camp Ocean children’s program will begin it’s roll out throughout the fleet aboard the Carnival Freedom this May. The new program will be added to each ship in the Carnival fleet over approximately the next year.
