Earlier last week, the 130,000 ton Carnival Dream entered into dry dock in Freeport to begin the implementation of Fun Ship 2.0.

The Carnival Dream has undergone some major changes this past week. Along with basic refurbishments (carpet, lights, deep cleaning, etc.) the Carnival Dream will now offer guests Carnival’s two newest bars, the Red Frog Rum Bar and the Blue Iguana Cantina, which are both poolisde on the Lido Deck. The Red Frog Rum Bar features not only a great selection of Caribbean rum-based concoctions, but also Carnival’s signature private-label draught beer, ThirstyFrog Red. The Blue Iguana Cantina offers a more “Western Caribbean styled” bar experience featuring Mexican beers and many tequila concoctions.

The Carnival Dream will also be debuting Carnival’s newest shop on the block, Cherry on Top. Cherry on Top offers a wide array of candies, chocolates and other desserts along with specialized Carnival and Cherry on Top branded merchandise. Basically, if you brought your kids on the Dream, this is where they will be spending most of their time.

Although I am sad that Guy’s Burger Joint and the Blue Iguana Cantina will not be embarking on the Dream, these new bars and store will definitely add to the great experience that Carnival is providing on the Carnival Dream. Along with the new features, guests can still enjoy one of the largest water parks at sea, which features 4 water slides; poolside movies on the big screen; Ocean Plaza, an onboard entertainment venue hosting live music and other events throughout the cruise; Serenity, and adults only retreat area; cantilevered whirlpools along the Lanai; plus many more that can only be experienced by cruising on the Dream.

The Carnival Dream will reenter service this Saturday, September 22nd with a cruise to the Eastern Caribbean. She will be calling at Nassau, Bahamas; St. Thomas, USVI; and Phillipsburg, St. Maarten.

The Carnival Dream is the third ship to feature Fun Ship 2.0 upgrades. The Carnival Glory will undergo her transformation this November.
