Carnival Corporation Pledges Aid For Philippines Disaster Relief

Yesterday, Carnival Corporation and the Miami HEAT announced that they will donate $1 million to aid in relief efforts for the Philippines. The $1 million will be donated through a team effort between Carnival Corporation, the Carnival Corp. brands, the Carnival Foundation, and The Miami HEAT.

“All of us at Carnival and the Miami HEAT extend our deepest sympathy to the Philippines and its people,” Arison said. “The typhoon in the Philippines has caused massive destruction, and is having a tragic impact on people and families, including those members of our extended Carnival family who reside in the region. We are in the process of evaluating a variety of worthy organizations that are doing fantastic work in the Philippines. In addition to providing financial support for relief efforts, our collective thoughts and prayers are with all of those who have been impacted.”

The $1 million donation will be made in addition to the separate pledges by some of Carnival Corporation’s cruise line brands.

Typhoon Haiyan has devastated major areas of the Philippines, reportedly taking 10,000 lives and destroying thousands of lives. It is reportedly the single strongest typhoon to occur in history.
