Well, it’s finally here, the announcement of Carnival 2.0, and honestly I have to say….I’m pretty disappointed. After waiting for weeks to hear the big announcement from Carnival they announce a huge project to upgrade the entire fleet with new restaurants, entertainment, and bars. I was sitting in school today imagining what this huge announcement would be. I’m thinking it’s gotta be something huge if they are holding a press conference with executives and celebrities. My actual prediction for what the announcement would was that the Carnival Liberty would go under the “knife” and be chopped and stretched. I thought that would have been so cool, because then they have all this new space for new amenities and staterooms, and it might give Carnival a competing edge as far as ship size goes. I am somewhat excited for the new spaces on board the entire Carnival fleet, and hopefully it might give some cruisers another reason to try Carnival, but I think the whole cruise lines teaming up with celebrities and companies is a bit annoying. I already think cruise ships are a destination unto themselves, because….well look at them, their giant sailing hotels that take you to exotic destinations around the world, with non stop food and entertainment. I just don’t need a bunch of characters from Madagascar prancing around my ship trying to sell me the Dreamworks experience. If I wanted to see Kung Foo Panda, I would have gone to Disney World, or Disney Cruise Line. Guy Fieri is not that bad, and I think the burger joint is a cool idea, but it seems a little…oh I don’t know…copied. Doesn’t Royal Caribbean have a burger joint on board, oh yeah…Johnny Rocket’s. Although I will be trying Guys Burgers on my next Carnival Cruise for sure! The one part of the announcement that I thought was a huge disappointment though was George Lopez. No offense to the George Lopez fans out there, but I just don’t even find him funny. His old show was hilarious, but after that ended and he started Lopez Tonight, it all went down hill. I watched it once and I turned it off within 5 minutes. I just think they could have picked somebody better. For example, Steve Carell. He doesn’t seem to have anything going on right now since he left the Office. In the end though, I think this may be a good investment for Carnival, maybe it will liven the ships up a bit more, and redefine the word “fun” in Fun Ships.
Have a great night!
