Bye Bye Mobile!

I thought I would write a blog in honor of all of the ports that have lost cruise ships in the past years, specifically Mobile. Carnival Cruise Lines recently announced that the Carnival Elation would leave the Port of Mobile in October of 2011. In my opinion that is a pretty fast departure, but I’m guessing that for Carnival, it is a smart decision. Even though the Port of Mobile and the City of Mobile are pretty upset with Carnival, they have to understand that this is a business decision. I always forgot that Mobile was a departure port for cruise ships, and honestly I don’t think that I would ever cruise out of there, no offense to Mobile or anything, but it just does not seem like a great city, plus it doesn’t have the greatest Carnival ship out there. I know that sounds pretty harsh, but hey, it is just my opinion. I do kinda feel bad for them though, as they just took another “heartbreak” when Norwegian basically told them, “hell no!” I guess NCL was given an offer to home port the Norwegian Spirit in Mobile, and NCL told them, “no way Jose!” A small city, with a broken heart, and an empty cruise terminal, maybe Royal Caribbean will save the day for Mobile? 🙂 Have a great day everyone!
