All About: Dancing with the Stars At Sea Theme Cruises

For cruisers who are avid fans of Dancing with the Stars or have a secret crush on Joey Fatone, Sabrina Bryan, or Derek Hough, a Dancing with the Stars At Sea theme cruise aboard Holland America Line may be the perfect sailing for you.

Dancing with the Stars

DANCE CLASS ZUIDERDAM

The main attraction of the Dancing with the Stars At Sea theme cruises is the opportunity for guests to attend dance classes with the stars and professionals from the television show. Throughout the sailing, the stars and pros hold three dance classes, open for all guests to participate in. Each class focuses on a particular dance style, such as the Jive, the Cha Cha, or the Waltz. While the stars and pros teach the class from the stage, guests partner up and hit the floor with all they’ve got. During the class, the stars and pros begin compiling a list of potential guests for the semi finals, inviting guests to compete further into the sailing. At the end of the class, the semi finalists will compete against each other for a spot in the final performance of the sailing. These semi finals are judged by the stars and pros, adding a level of excitement for guests wishing to compete further.

The dance classes hosted by the pros and stars aren’t all about competition. Guests are invited to come out on the dance floor and have a good time whether or not they wish to compete in Dancing with the Stars At Sea.

Socializing with the Stars

Throughout the sailing, the celebrities from the television show hold a number of social events with the ship’s guests. From photo opportunities, to autograph sessions, and ship wide Q&A, guests have a number of opportunities to socialize with the Dancing with the Stars celebrities. Each theme sailing also features a special fashion show on the Lido deck, featuring the show’s celebrities showcasing the costumes from Dancing with the Stars.

On particular sailings, the celebrities may hold other social events for the guests. On the inaugural Dancing with the Stars At Sea sailing aboard the Eurodam, Mark Ballas held a special show in the Queen’s Lounge, performing acoustic versions of many traditional and popular songs.

Performance by the Stars

For one night, guests sailing aboard a theme cruise will have the opportunity to be dazzled by the Dancing with the Stars celebrities in a special performance. The celebrities will take to the stage, performing actual routines from the show, leaving the crowd on their feet as they fly around the stage. Between each routine, guests will also be humored by video messages from Glen, Bruno, and comedy bits from the celebrities. By the end of the performance, guests will be on their feet, applauding one of the most spectacular performances at sea.

Competing for the Stars

Each theme cruise, as a part of the Dancing with the Stars At Sea program, hosts a final guest competition at the end of the sailing. The guest contestants are chosen for the final performance from each of the dance classes hosted onboard earlier in the week. The final performance is judged by the celebrities, who will ultimately choose the winner for the particular sailing. Guests who reach the final performance will have the opportunity to receive feedback on their dancing from the celebrities and be given a shot to perform in the fleet Finale at the end of the year.

The Dancing with the Stars At Sea theme cruises provide Holland America Line guests with a unique opportunity to be taught by, socialize with, and be starstruck by the celebrities of Dancing with the Stars. In 2014, Holland America Line will offer guests six opportunities to sail on a theme cruise and take part in one of the most exciting and exhilarating theme cruises at sea.

2014 Theme Cruises:

Celebrities for the 2014 theme cruises include Kym Johnson, Tristan MacManus, Sabrina Bryan and Carson Kressley. Additional celebrities may be announced for particular sailings throughout the year.
