Safety
Despite the best efforts of the media and the enemies of the industry to paint cruising as a death wish, cruising still remains the safest form of travel when compared to travel by car or air. In the last decade, the number of fatalities in accidents involving cruise ships were far behind accidents involving commercial aircraft and automobiles. In addition, the cruise industry is strictly regulated by the United States Coast Guard and the International Maritime Organization. Now, we admit, accidents do happen. Fortunately though, you’re unlikely to encounter an undesirable situation while at sea.
