Small talk can be interesting, yet difficult to succeed at while at sea. If you’ve found yourself making awkward small talk at some point in your sailing, odds are it would go something like this: “Oh, hi. Did you enjoy the island today? It was hot, yes. Oh you laid by the beach as well? Which beach? Oh, the only one, the one we were also at. Great.” Now, this will vary depending on the situation, but one drawback of cruising is the fact you’re all pretty much going to the same place, experiencing the same weather, seeing the same shows, and eating the same food. So, be cautioned. Either skip the small talk and move onto bigger subjects or stare awkwardly for your neighbor on your balcony.
