2 Fall Overboard From Carnival Spirit In Australia

In a tragic incident, two Australians guests sailing aboard the Carnival Spirit apparently fell overboard on May 8th around 8:50 pm. The two guests apparently fell from somewhere mid-ship as shown in a CCTV camera that was later replayed to discover that the two had fallen overboard.

The two young Australians from New South Wales were apparently not discovered until early this morning when the Spirit returned to Sydney from her last cruise. According to statement release by Carnival, “The ship immediately initiated standard missing person procedures including a full search of the vessel as per protocol. The guests in question were travelling with family and friends and initial reports indicate that the couple was last seen onboard the vessel last night.” After the guest’s could not be located aboard the ship, the local police were called in to assist for the onboard search. It became apparent, after no successful find onboard and the discovery of the CCTV tape, that the two guests had fallen overboard.

Australian Search and Rescue as well as local police are currently searching a 300 square nautical miles area of the ocean off of the Coast of Foster. This area is believed to be the area where the two guests may have fallen overboard last night.

At this time, there is no evidence to confirm how the two guests fell overboard last night en-route to Sydney.
